Why did you choose this accommodation?

It is central within the campus, providing easy access to academic resources including the library, and only a short walk from social life including the union bar, and Digby Square. It’s modern, and a double bed, alongside an en suite is a luxury away from home!

What’s the best thing about living on campus?

There’s always something going on! From market days to karaoke, quiz nights to the on campus nightclub BOP, college cup events, and the ever lasting list of societies. Campus provides a corner shop, laundry facilities, medical centre, the library, a gym, the bar and café’s With such a hectic schedule, fitting in lectures, societies, and social events, being on campus eliminates travel time and costs, everything is on your doorstep.

What to expect:

A fun filled year. A range of people from diverse backgrounds and with different interests

How to get to know people:

Don’t be shy! Just remember, everyone is in the same boat, and probably just as nervous as you.

Join a society, whether it be in or out of your comfort zone.

Buy a freshers band! This week is your foundation for getting to know people.

Why did you choose University of Roehampton?

It was one of the only university in the UK that did my course but after a bit of research into Roehampton and my open day, it was a clear and easy choice. Coming from a rural background, I’ve always wanted to experience a city environment and Roehampton has provided the perfect base for that.

Involved with Sports/Societies?

Doing a degree within sport, it’d be a surprise if I wasn’t doing something. I’m heavily involved with my college football team, The Froebel Zeebras and took on the role of social sec. this year. It’s the perfect role for myself, it means I can be my social self as well as still playing for the team. However, being a flat rep, it’s easy to get involved with other social aspects of the uni such as the college cup and weekly nights out etc.

Involved with anything else on campus?

I get myself involved in a lot of other opportunities on campus, one being a Student Ambassador. The scheme gives a great source of employment close to home whilst being able to convey your love for the university. I hope to get involved with more and more as I move through my time here.

Tips for students preparing for university:

Come in with an open mind. You’ll meet a lot of people and do lots of things you wouldn’t have dreamed of so embrace it all. Also give yourself time, every experience is unique and it might take a day, 2 weeks, a month etc. to settle so don’t worry if it isn’t everything you imagined straight away but do chuck yourself in, you get a lot more out that way.

Roehampton Tips:

Very similar to the general tips of university but specifically to Roehampton, use London. It’s one thing I didn’t do enough in my first year and you tend to forget you’re situated within the capital.

Why did you choose Roehampton?

Roehampton has a beautiful campus and friendly atmosphere with easy accessibility to London which I really liked. Roehampton also has interesting courses with a variety of module choices which meant I could explore different areas of my subjects.

What is the best aspect of studying at Roehampton?

The course modules are so varied there is something to suit everyone and opens your eyes to areas of your course you never imagined you would be interested in. The library has all the resources you need for your studies and the lecturers are so supportive and encouraging.

What is the social life like at Roehampton?

The social life is amazing and enables you to make loads of friends. There are events going on all the time so you can never get bored and this also helps to make the university have the community atmosphere that we all appreciate and enjoy.

What are you lectures like at Roehampton?

The lecturers make lectures and seminars exciting and engaging, encouraging you to voice your opinion and inspire you to read around the subject and carry on thinking about the ideas brought up even after the session with your lecturer has ended.

What do you want to do after Roehampton?

I’m not 100% certain what I want to do after university, but the two options I am considering are a conversion course to Law or a PGCE depending on which job I decide to pursue.

What would you say to students considering studying at Roehampton?

Roehampton will provide you with a memorable, life changing and fun experience which will enhance your education, but also you as a person. You join the friendly Roehampton community and have an amazing experience!
