University Profile

We are one of the longest established English higher education institutions of any kind, predating all but Oxford, Cambridge, London and Durham. The institution/college, which would become the University of Chester, was founded in 1839. Through our broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, we work hard to offer students a life-changing experience in a creative, caring and encouraging environment.

Our teaching sites are each equipped with a fantastic range of course specific facilities to assist your studies. Some of the site specific facilities may include: modern purpose-built state-of-the-art laboratories; gallery and studio spaces; health skills laboratories; recording studios; modern lecture theatres; and subject specific libraries.

We also have a fantastic range of sporting facilities available, and our Chester Students’ Union has over a 100 clubs and societies for students to join.

When you’re not studying, you can enjoy the vibrant, cultural and thriving scenes of Chester, Warrington or Shrewsbury.

The University of Chester offers over 400 single and combined honours undergraduate degrees, in addition to huge selection of postgraduate taught degrees and research opportunities. We aim to provide you with the freedom and support to develop into a unique and highly employable graduate with a student experience that is second to none.
