University Advice
More than 60,000 students gained an undergraduate place through clearing last year. UCEN Manchester share their top tips to guide you through the clearing experience.
Research
Look for the course and the subject area that’s going to motivate and stimulate you, as well as an environment you can thrive and succeed in. You can take a look at the courses we offer and find out how to get in touch on our clearing page.
Be prepared
Make a list of possible courses you’re interested in. In the lead up to clearing you can enquire about the course/s you have an interest in by filling out an enquiry form and a member of our team will be in touch to provide more information.
Be Positive
Be positive and don’t panic. A lot of people don’t end up with their first choice university but end up loving their second or third choice. We’re here to help ensure you’re happy with your course and will provide the support you need to make the right choice.
Remain calm
Be calm and collected. Write down key points beforehand so you have an idea of what you might want to ask when speaking to the clearing team.
Sell yourself
Ensure you highlight why you are passionate about joining the course – what is your motivation? Articulate your love of the subject.
Don't make snap decisions
You don’t need to rush to take the first course place you’re offered. If you need time to think before committing, ask for a deadline when your decision needs to be made by. If you are calling on A level results day then make sure you take your time to think things through. You may also want to take a look at the Student Life section of the UCEN Manchester website to get a better insight into the incredible facilities, fantastic support and amazing activities that you can find on your doorstep if you choose to study with us.
