An amazing opportunity to join Merseyside Police as a Voluntary Special Constable. Special Constables have the same powers of arrest and discretion as a Regular Constable and get full training and full police uniform. We will equip in you every possible way to serve in your community as a Special Constable, we will post you into an area of Merseyside Police alongside other Special Constables with a Special Supervisor and Regular Supervisor, and we also offer Development Officers. Postings can be in Local Policing, Response and Resolution, Roads Safety, Investigation, Abusive Images Unit and any other area that you would like to do an attachment in.

We only ask for 16 hours of your time a month and will pay for your travelling expenses and refreshment expenses.

This is a rewarding role where you get to build up your skill set, develop as an individual and enhance your CV with experience for the future.

Last year the Special Constables completed 68,000 hours over 10,500 duties. Duties can include: Southport Air Show, PRIDE, Rock n Roll Marathon, Grand National, Chinese New Year as well as specialism shifts at the courts, airport or with Armed Response.
