University Profile
The National College for Advanced Transport & Infrastructure (NCATI) is a state-of-the-art training facility based on two campuses in Birmingham and Doncaster.
Relaunched in 2021 as part of the University of Birmingham group, NCATI provides the specialist training, skills and qualifications required to build HS2 and deliver other world-class infrastructure projects. Up to 120,000 additional people will be required in the transport and infrastructure industry over the next five to ten years, with almost 30% of workers due to retire by 2025. This means engineering skills are now more in-demand and highly-paid than ever before, with the average salary for an entry-level engineer starting at £30,000.
The College was set up to create the engineering workforce of the future, drawn from lots of different backgrounds and with the skills to take on any challenge. Our curriculum can therefore be accessed at various different levels, ranging from school leaver vocational courses for 16+, to apprenticeships and Higher Education qualifications for 18+.
NCATI is different because it has been developed in partnership with businesses that already work in the transport and infrastructure industry. This means that our courses and our facilities have been designed specifically to give these businesses graduates with the in-demand skills they need.
Working closely with employers like HS2 and Alstom, the National College is here to give you the qualifications and industry links you need to forge an exciting and in-demand career, be it a role in construction, digital design, systems engineering, or project management.
