Formed in 2013, following three separate mergers from 2009, Coleg Cambria has rapidly established itself as a leading UK education provider. Estyn in February 2015 awarded the College the highest Estyn sector judgements of this inspection cycle, with both current performance and prospects for improvement at ‘excellent’. The College tops Wales’ performance tables with consistently high success rates across all provision, including high performing sixth-form and successful employer-focussed vocational learning.
One of the largest colleges in the UK, Coleg Cambria has over 7,000 full time students, 20,000 part-time learners and many international links. Across its seven sites Coleg Cambria offers a vast array of full-time and part-time courses including A Levels, GCSEs, BTECs, Traineeships and Degrees. Working in partnership with over 1,000 employers, the college also offers Apprenticeship opportunities with strong links to local employment.
Coleg Cambria offers world-class facilities, including a Centre of Excellence for Engineering, University Centre, a state-of-the-art sixth form, Cambria Business School and a 1,000 acre farm and animal care centre.
The College hosts the regional ‘Seren’ hub hothousing the most academically able learners.
In 2014, the College achieved the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for its highly-regarded work in the aerospace sector. Cambria’s CEO chairs the Deeside Enterprise Zone and is a leader in regional development via the North Wales Economic Ambition Board, displaying exceptional partnership-working with employers of all sizes, supporting workforce development and business growth.
The College continues to drive forward with its 2020 vision, incorporating a new Deeside Sixth-Form Centre and ambitious expansion into higher education and degree level apprenticeships.
